Overview

KU Leuven, in collaboration with Google, the European Patent Office, SKEMA Business School, Université Côte d'Azur, and UCD Dublin, is excited to invite you to the 11th Annual Summer School on Data and Algorithms for Science, Technology & Innovation (ST&I) Studies. This year's edition will take place in the 19th-century Valrose Castle in Nice. It's the perfect place for both junior and senior researchers in ST&I studies to convene and reflect upon the past, the present, and the future of our exciting discipline.

Event highlights

Confirmed keynote speakers are Ashish Arora (Fuqua School of Business, Duke University), Joshua Krieger (Harvard Business School), and Dashun Wang (Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University). As per our tradition, the first afternoon will feature targeted sessions and workshops for early-career scholars. This includes guest speakers from Google and the European Patent Office. In addition, Ludovic Dibiaggio (SKEMA) and Reinhilde Veugelers (KU Leuven) will take part in an interactive panel on AI and Innovation in Europe, featuring AI entrepreneurs and regional and EU policymakers.

Schedule

Kick-off at noon on 7 September and ending at noon on 9 September. A full day of sessions on 8 September is followed by a social gathering and dinner on the beach, set against the stunning scenery of the Côte d'Azur.

Call for submissions and participation

We welcome your latest research in the development and use of data and algorithms in ST&I, including machine learning, natural language processing, and AI. We welcome submissions of abstracts, full papers, or proposals for a dedicated session on a specific theme. Please submit via email to sti@kuleuven.be by 8 May 2026. Notification of acceptance will be communicated by 22 May 2026. Everyone is also warmly invited to participate without presenting.
