Getting to Nice

By plane

Nice Côte d'Azur Airport (NCE) is the second-busiest airport in France with direct connections from most European hubs. From the airport:

  • Tram line 2 runs every ~10 minutes from both airport terminals to the city centre (~25 min, ~€1.70).
  • Taxi to Valrose: ~20–30 minutes depending on traffic.

By train

Nice-Ville is the main station, served by TGV from Paris (~6h), Marseille, and direct international trains to Italy. Valrose Castle is a short taxi or tram ride from the station.

Getting to Valrose from the city centre

  • Tram line 1 from Jean-Médecin or Gare Thiers, stop Valrose Université, ~10 minutes.
  • On foot from Nice-Ville: ~25 minutes, uphill.
  • Taxi / rideshare from the city centre: ~10 minutes.

Accommodation

Participants are responsible for their own accommodation. Nice has a wide range of hotels and short-term rentals across every budget tier. A few useful areas:

  • Around Gare Thiers / Jean-Médecin — convenient for tram line 1 up to Valrose; mix of mid-range hotels.
  • Vieux Nice / Old Town — walking distance to the sea and restaurants; charming but busier.
  • Cimiez / Valrose area — quieter residential neighbourhoods close to the venue.

We expect to share a short list of recommended hotels and negotiated rates (if any) closer to the event.
